Life MembersThe club may, from among its members who have had long and meritorious service appoint Honorary Life Members in recognition of their efforts in furthering the interests of the club and swimming. Current financial members and immediate past members of the club are entitled to be considered for Life Membership. Messrs Bert Howes, Clive Faux, Ken Siddle and Don Atkinson were the first life members of the swimming club. Don Atkinson, who served the club between 1970 and 1990 is one of only two officials who accumulated 20 years of service. The other is Mrs Leslie Hanson. Nomination ProcessAll nominations for Life Membership should be in writing and forwarded to the club Secretary at least two weeks before the club's Annual General Meeting. The nominator must clearly state the rationale for the nomination and address both the nominee's length of service to the club and his or her meritorious service. A Life Member may be elected at the Annual General Meeting or at a subsequent monthly meeting, so long as a motion has been passed at the Annual General Meeting to that effect. All life Membership applications must be reviewed by the Club's Executive Committee, comprising the Chairperson, Deputy Chairperson(s), Secretary, Treasurer and Director of Coaching. After reviewing the nomination and completing any relevant enquiries, the Executive Committee will provide a report and recommendation to the relevant meeting of the club. Election is by a two-thirds majority of those attending the meeting. Life Members are eligible for any office of the club and may attend and vote at all monthly meetings as well as Annual General Meetings. Life Members will receive a framed Life Membership Certificate and will be listed, along with other Life Members, in the club's handbook. |
